1. WHY GO GREEN? 

Many of the home services you use today are full of chemicals shown in studies to harm our health. Children and pets are particularly affected by these chemicals used in our cleaning, pest control and lawns. Many have been shown to be asthmagens, allergens, carcinogens (cause cancer), endocrine disruptors (affect hormones), and neurotoxins (affect the brain). Check out the resources at the bottom of this page to learn more about how these common household services may be affecting your health and the health of your family. At The Green Queen, we opt to use the safest chemicals in the industry for your home while maintaining efficacy. We provide effective, green cleaning and green pest control services at reasonable prices. 

2. HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT FROM OTHER COMPANIES? 

The Green Queen is different because we weren’t a traditional pest, turf, and cleaning service that decided to get into the green marketplace because it was trendy or profitable. We do it because it matters. Our founder and CEO Jennifer Hankey’s passion is educating people about how and why to avoid chemicals in everyday products. She discovered a need for truly organic, green services in the Atlanta area. In her own personal search for these services, she continually found “green cleaners” used bleach or cleaning supplies. “Organic” turf care companies were using traditional weed sprays and chemicals. And pest control companies may or may not use products considered green. The Green Queen was born from Jennifer’s frustration. The goal? To offer the safest, healthiest, and most effective green cleaning and green pest control services that still work. 

3. WHAT Green PRODUCTS DO YOU USE?

For green cleaning, we only use and recommend ingredients deemed safe by the Environmental Working Group. So many green cleaning services use supplies called green, but when you research further, still contain questionable chemicals. Our eco-friendly pest control uses products with essential oils, citrus, botanicals and boric acid. Our green mosquito spraying solution uses essential oils. Our green turf care program uses organic compost, bio-based fertilizers and OMRI certified weed sprays that are vinegar, salt, citrus and iron-based. We believe it’s important customers trust the products being used around their homes.  

4. HOW MANY PEOPLE COME AND WILL IT BE THE SAME PEOPLE EACH TIME FOR CLEANING?

Typically, we’ll assign you a team of two cleaners who will come every week. We like to keep the same people coming to your home regularly so you can build a relationship of trust with your personalized Green Queen team. There are times due to illness, vacations or other unforeseen situations when another team is assigned to come. You will be alerted in advance of this change.

5. WHAT IF I HAVE SPECIAL REQUESTS? 

If you have special requests, simply contact the office. Need the inside of your refrigerator or oven cleaned or a basement area added to your service plan? We can help! Don’t ask the team directly for the special requests because the office needs to adjust the schedule to accommodate any extra time needed. This is due to the fact that we want to be respectful of the customers who have cleanings after yours that day. Advanced notice is needed to be considerate of the other customers who will be cleaned that day. 

6. ARE THE SERVICES EFFECTIVE?  

Yes! Our green cleanings are well known as thorough and effective. Customers rave about how clean their homes are after we leave… with no toxic smells left behind. Our eco-friendly pest control services are effective for nearly all our customers and many are surprised they work better than traditional alternatives. While we find our 100 percent green mosquito spraying services work for many of our customers, we also offer hybrid options for both mosquito and turf care for those customers who may have trickier yards. You can always start with the green services and switch to a hybrid at any time with no additional cost. Our hybrid options are absolutely as effective as our competitors while using less traditional chemicals around the yard. 

7. WILL I HAVE NO BUGS/MOSQUITOS? 

Pest elimination is different than pest control. We’re highly effective in dramatically reducing all pests. As with all pest control companies, it is possible you will see a bug from time to time. That being said, the vast majority of our clients find they do not see bugs while using our eco-friendly pest control services. 

8. ARE YOU LICENSED AND INSURED? 

Yes, we are licensed and insured for all of our green services. 

9. WHAT IF I NEED A RETREATMENT IN-BETWEEN SCHEDULED VISITS?

We are always accommodating of any retreatment in between scheduled treatments as long as the problem is included in your standard service. 

10. WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE STANDARD SERVICE? 

For green pest control, certain pests are not included in our standard service. This is the same as what other pest control companies offer, too. Fleas, bees, bed bugs, German cockroaches, and some other pests are excluded from our quarterly service, but can always be treated in a separate service. Termites, mosquitoes, and pest control are three separate services. 

11. WILL I HAVE WEEDS?

Our eco-friendly turf care services are much different than a traditional turf service. This is because we focus on the soil and help your turf become thicker and more resistant to weeds. We also spot treat weeds in your turf and beds to help control them. We are unaware of any yard that is truly 100 percent weed free. The goal is to give you a beautiful, lush, thick turf, with as few weeds as possible. You’ll have a yard naturally resistant to funguses and other diseases because the soil is healthy and fed with natural, green fertilizers. If you are concerned about weeds, we recommend our hybrid option, which includes a pre-emergent that prevents weeds from growing in the first place. Our customers on the hybrid program say their yards look better than they’ve ever seen.

12. IS IT REALLY ORGANIC/NON-TOXIC?

Pest control products, by nature, are not non-toxic or organic because they are designed to kill bugs, but at The Green Queen, we know what you mean when you search for these types of services.  At the Green Queen, we use the absolute safest and least toxic options we can find on the market that work. Our mission as a company is to use the safest products available rather than “safer” products. For example, our non-toxic mosquito spray is made with essential oils. Customers who opt for hybrid will have some traditional chemicals, yet a dramatically lower amount than traditional company’s products. Our services and products are considered non-toxic when you choose the organic plan and the products are used as directed per the label by the manufacturer.* Our non-toxic cleaning and pest control services use essential oils, citrus-based products, botanicals and other types of green options. Many of the homes we treat have bee hives, chickens, coy ponds and other wildlife we need to protect… not to mention pets and children. We go above and beyond to make sure we provide services that are as safe as possible for people, pets and the planet while still maintaining efficacy.

13. CAN MY PETS AND CHILDREN BE ON THE GRASS AFTERWARD?

We recommend all pets and people remain inside during turf care and mosquito spraying. Once everything is dry, they can return to the yard. Typical dry times are 30 minutes, but some can take up to two hours depending on the weather.

14. DO YOU OFFER green TREATMENTS for flower beds? 

At this time we do not treat beds in and around the home. We can provide recommendations for you to provide your landscaper so you can use a safer option for this area of your yard.

*Disclaimer: Green Queen services are reduced risk for humans and pets when Green Queen recommended 100% botanically-based options only are chosen and used per manufacturer instructions. All options, including the 100% botanically-based options and the traditional options, are considered approved for use by the US government when used per manufacturer instructions. If hybrid options are chosen (e.g. options that include both botanical and traditional supplies) or cleaning supplies are supplied by the customer for use by Green Queen, there are no “green” claims made.
